Frequency Specific Microcurrents
What is Frequency Specific Microcurrents (FSM)
FSM is an effective modality in pain management. Low amperage electrical currents (that cannot be felt) are conducted through the body. These currents are programed with specific frequencies for specific areas of the body and conditions. Specific frequencies have been found to potentially reduce inflammation, stimulate tissue repair, reduce pain and shorten the duration of shingle and herpes outbreaks. FSM can reduce the healing time from sports injuries, surgeries, and accidents.
Practitioners must be trained and certified in the use of this equipment--which is not widely available. I have certification, extensive training, and four years of incorporating this therapy with my clientele.
The frequencies have demonstrated to increase cellular ATP by 500%, increase protein synthesis, and reduced cellular inflammation.
The devices are approved in the category of TENS devices. The devices have a 510K listing with the FDA. However, TENS deliver a thousand times more current then FSM devices. Rather than bombarding and scattering the electrical message through the body, FSM uses specific frequencies that resonate at a cellular level.
Conditions that benefit from FSM include:
Achilles tendonitis
Bell’s Palsy
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Concussion
Diabetic neuropathy
Endometrosis
Fibromyalgia from spine trauma
Fractures
Headaches
Herpes
Interstitial cystitis
Irritable Bowel syndrome
Kidney stone pain
Lymphedema
Migraine headaches
Muscle pain
Myofascial pain and trigger points
Neck pain
Neuromuscular pain and inflammation
Nerve pain
Osteoarthritis
Post herpetic neuralgia
Post surgical pain
PTSD
Scar tissue
Sciatica
Shingles
Shoulder pain
Spinal disc pain
TMJ pain
Tendon and ligament injury
Tension headaches
Tennis elbow
Thoracic outlet syndrome
Whiplash
Wound healing
Are There Any Risks or Dangers?
There are no risks to the patient that we know about as long as the practitioner follows proper contraindication and precautions. FSM should not be used across the chest of patients with pacemakers, or patients known to be pregnant. The frequency to reduce inflammation will reduce inflammation even when an infection is present and the infection can become worse while the inflammation is turned off.
How do the Frequencies Work?
The research data suggest that the frequencies change cell signaling by changing cell membrane receptors that change cellular genetic expression.
How is FSM Applied?
Treatment is non-invasive and painless. The electrical frequencies are delivered from a battery operated device through electrical wires and graphite gloves that are wrapped in moist towels and placed on the client’s body.
It's imperative that the client is well hydrated so that the frequencies can travel through the body. Clients are recommended to hydrate the day before the appointment and also to drink 6 cups of water 2 hours before the appointment. Treatment time ranges from 30-90 minutes. The timing of sequential treatments is individualized.
My Frequency Specific Microcurrents (FSM) Philosophy
I approach FSM as another tool for helping individuals reach their health goals. It supports and improves results from nutritional work, massage work, and other healthy lifestyle methods. FSM works most effectively with clients committed to a course of treatment.
